DC people: Hamlet for free

Ok, who in addition to me, Kristin, and Monica is going to the Free for All on Saturday? Show starts at 7:30, at Carter Barron (in Rock Creek Park).

Please comment if you're definitely going to come. If there are more than four of us, I'll need to have someone volunteer to help me get tickets, since there's a limit of four per person.

Jeffrey Carlson is a really pissy emo kid Hamlet, so not to everyone's taste, but the production is utterly amazing. Fully modern, down to Ophelia's iPod and one of the ambassadors to Norway being female. And Michelle Beck is so utterly fabulous as Ophelia. I loved this production last year and I'm so glad they were able to get Carlson and Beck back (too bad Cuccioli is playing Salieri at the moment - I wanted to prove that he can, indeed, act). And bunraku players = awesome. (apparently they come from Norway - Fortinbras was originally a random asian guy. This makes sense to me, somehow. Not because there's some growing asian power theme going on, but the idea that Denmark is a cosmopolitan place but Norway is ethnically different. Polonius' whole family is black, for the record.)

Kristin will be coming after work, so meeting me at my place around 6, and we'll be doing picnic dinner. Anyone who comes can be in on this if they want (my house is a whole 30 min drive, tops, to Carter Barron). Again, comment so I can figure this out.

I'll come--sounds like fun. Shall I meet you and Kristin at your place, or meet you at the park?

Whichever works for you. (remind me the allergies again: milk, peanuts, tree nuts? Do you have fruit allergies/issues? Trying to plan picnic dinner.)

Yep, that's it. No fruit allergies, and I can bring some of my own food if it'd make it easier on you--Lord knows feeding two picky eaters is a fraught enough issue as it is without throwing allergies into the mix.

I'm thinking I'll make sandwiches and get a bag of potato chips and some cookies and watermelon or whatever fruit Kristin will eat. My fear is cross contamination issues in slicing sandwich ingredients. I don't want to accidentally kill you. So I will provide junky side dishes/dessert, and you can manage your own "entree"?

(I will never look at that icon again without thinking of Adam *g*.)

Yeah, cross contamination is an issue--how about I bring my own entree and supply cookies for all? Finding milk-free baked goods is a pain in the ass that I wouldn't wish upon anyone else, and I already know where to look. ;)

(A hearty snork at your icon. XD)

Cool!

Question for you. Do you a)like lemon cookies and b)is there anything in this recipe that will kill you?

1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon lemon extract
2 1/2 c. flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Because killing you is not my goal!

Ooooh, sounds good. And non-lethal.

I was planning on making lemon cookies for Josh, if you still think we should give him something. Which means there will be lots of leftovers, cause I really haven't figured out the proper method of halving the recipe. I mean, if you think you would like that for the picnic party.

Jenny + milk products (which includes a heck of a lot of margarine) = dead

Trying to make sure everyone can eat and no one dies :)
