And I'm grateful for it. 5400 people in my zip code without power, and we're fine. No flooding of our apartment. internet stayed on the whole time, even. (cable went out before the storm even hit, weirdly, but we still have internet, so I kind of don't care.)
We did lose hot water this morning for at least a couple of hours, but it's back and really hot now. So that's a bit of a mystery, but whatever - it's back.
Isabel sucked for me. Irene was just a lot of water. I mean, a LOT of water. Watching it flow down the hill last night was kind of scary as there was just so much of it. Like Snowmageddon, it was steady precipitation that didn't seem horrific as it was falling but it just never stopped and the accumulation was thus insane.
So yay - I've come out of this just fine. But I don't wanna go to work tomorrow. Weekend has been kinda fun - I did a bunch of cooking so last night we had group dinner - red curry chicken with local veg from the farmers' market and plum galette for dessert (with plums from Whole Foods - there were none at the market and I was set on plum galette).
Going to watch a couple more eps of season 2 of The Wire this afternoon, then The Boy Detective Fails preview tonight. How has the theatre season started already?! (because it's the end of August. How it is the end of August already?)
