No promises on Historical Sew Monthly participation, as I have additional hobbies and shared living space, but we'll see how this goes (since the first two line up with things I need to do then anyway).
January: Foundations
Pocket hoops are done! Did most of the work yesterday with my day off, then attached them to the tape tonight.
Fabric: Cotton bedsheet
Pattern: from marquise.de
Year: Suitable for 1750-75
Notions: Zip ties! And cotton twill tape.
Historically accurate?: It's a bedsheet held out with zip ties, all machine stitched. I'm only aiming for shape, which is fine.
Hours to complete: Too many. Probably around 6 or 7, because I am very slow (and was watching the Portlandia marathon all day at the same time).
First worn: Probably not until Française dinner, since I still have no petticoats for it.
Total cost: Free! Free pattern, sheet came off my own bed (it was ripped down the middle), and the zip ties were already on hand for boning for other projects, otherwise I would have used the bigger ones rather than doubling all the rows.
looking ahead to February (Blue), I ordered the fabric for my française today. Which just happens to be teal. So things are lining up really well so far for participation. March may not be happening since I'm anticipating française eating all my sewing time and energy. We'll see if this keeps up.
