Gorgeous. Schönberg has talent I never dreamed of. Soaring melodies we know, but he has these gorgeous quiet bits, too. Clips shall come at some point after I'm home, I promise.

The story is cut about in half. They end with Cathy's death and Heathcliff mourns. So no Linton, no little Cathy, no Hareton, no idiot who wants to hear the story. It's rather more sympathetic that way, though you still watch Heathcliff screw Hindley out of his own house (though Hindley deserved it).

The main Heathcliff theme initially seemed to me like something that might have been cut from Martin Guerre: Schönberg in rustic mode. But I finally figured out what it reminded me of. In Gilbert and Sullivan's 'Patience', 'A Waterloo House Young Man'. I'm serious. Only with spooky, intense orchestrations (William David Brohn rocks). Really, it's gorgeous.

And I think I fancy dancer boy who was Heathcliff (his name is Jonathan Ollivier, and he's hot, kinda like Dallyn). I wasn't meaning to pick up a dancer boy, I swear. I can't even stand Heathcliff! But dancer boy was hot and did an excellent job.

Tomorrow, I hope to catch the final matinee of Anything Goes.
